CiC was founded in 1988 as the corporate arm of the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF), one of Britain’s most respected centres for counselling, psychotherapy and training. Counselling in Companies, as we were initially known, became a pioneer in the rapidly expanding Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) sector.

Our first clients were two of the country’s largest high street banks and we have been growing ever since. CiC was the first British Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider to be audited against the standards of the professional body, EAPA UK.

We have since expanded into learning and development, mediation and wellbeing promotion. CiC is also now one of the country’s leading providers of trauma support, with clients including city law firms, global news agencies, international construction companies and police forces.

In 1991, CiC became a registered company and in 2006, the current board bought the company, which then launched into the marketplace as an independent operator. While much has changed in the last 20 years, CiC retains its overriding dedication to clinical excellence combined with personal support and sustained relationships.

Our experience with a wide variety of organisations over the years has led us to specialise in robust, bespoke and tailored programmes rather than deliver ‘one size fits all’ modules that can feel impersonal and commoditised.
