CiC now support over 25,000 employees through our partnership with Mindful Employer, an organisation which helps support staff who experience mental health conditions. The Mindful Employer scheme was launched in October 2004 by Workways, a vocational rehabilitation service offered by the Devon Partnership NHS Trust, and now operates nationally.
CIC provides support to Mindful Employers add on scheme, “Mindful Employer Plus”, in the form of a free and confidential telephone helpline. The service is exclusively for organisations who are Charter signatories. In being a Mindful Employer, this “shows employees and other you are a good employer”, “reduces sickness absence” and “makes for a healthier workplace”.
There are now almost 200 businesses and organisations who have signed up for Mindful Employer Plus with the majority of these being SME’s. Employers using the service include The Rugby Football League, MIND, Scottish Youth Parliament, NHS Confederation and many more.
Since the implementation of Mindful Employer Plus, CiC’s Adviceline counsellors have supported over 500 employees who have accessed the service. The issues the CiC Adviceline team have seen through Mindful Employer Plus have been wide-ranging, such as relationship struggles to pressure at work. The most frequent effect from these issues and such a common mental health problem, was anxiety.
Richard Frost, founder of Mindful Employer Plus and now retired, was appointed OBE for his services to mental health in June 2018. We wish him the best of luck in the future.
